Welcome to the Kansas Area Agencies on Aging Association (K4A)

The Kansas Area Agencies on Aging Association (K4A) represents all eleven Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) who coordinate services and provide assessment, information, case management and numerous other services for seniors in all 105 counties of Kansas.

The Area Agencies on Aging serve as the designated “Single Point of Entry” for services for seniors in Kansas. The Area Agencies on Aging in Kansas are part of a national network of 655 AAAs, established by Congress in the Older Americans Act of 1965. The Area Agencies on Aging are federally mandated as the “Leader” on aging issues at the local level.

WHAT IS AN ADRC?

ADRC stands for Aging & Disability Resource Center.  An ADRC is a trusted and visible place for people of all ages, disabilities and income levels to receive unbiased information about long term services and supports.

KANSAS AGING & DISABILITY RESOURCE CENTER

The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) is now available to provide Kansans with information and referrals.  ADRC staff members can also put residents in contact with local Options Counselors.

The ADRC is designed to empower older adults and persons with disabilities to make informed choices about their services and supports.  This will streamline access to those services and ensure their individual needs will be met.  The ADRC can refer individuals to an array of in-home, community based and institutional services, as well as provide decision-making support through a service called Options Counseling.

AAAs TO FUNCTION AS ADRCs

The Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services signed a contract with the Southwest Kansas Area Agency on Aging, which provides sub-grants to the states 10 other AAA's to function as Aging and Disability Resource Centers..  "We are extremely pleased to announce that eleven not-for-profit Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) have successfully joined together to implement the first step of a state-wide ADRC," said Dave Geist, Executive Director of Southwest Kansas Area Agency on Aging.

Our vision is to  have Aging and Disability Resource Centers serving every community as highly visible and trusted places where people of incomes and ages can get information on the full range of long term support options and can access a single entry point to public long term support programs and benefits.  By 2013, we plan to provide individual personalized Options Counseling Services through local Community Options Specialists who can meet with you to help you sort through your options and connect you to services based on your own preferences, strengths and values.  Please check back on this website and www.ksadrc.org for updated information on the availability of this service in your area.
